CHARACTER SYNOPSES      
 (partial list)
 
*main characters        **in every story
Physical descriptions are generalized, to allow for further design creativity.

*You!  A major contributor to the successful outcome of many of the problems
posed in these stories is the person to whom the story is being read.  The narrative
optionally enables the listener to solve the problems.

**Ole Sloppincabbage & Luke:  Dense, but loyal, goodhearted, naïve, and
exceptionally generous.  They might look a little Hillbilly but they are from the city. 
Always getting into silly predicaments.
       
**Ole Sloppincabbage. A short temper, but somehow willing to admit he’s wrong
if he HAS to, not smart, but loyal. He is quite heavy, but proud of his looks. Clothes
just short of rags. Adult.  

**Luke. He is patient, raggedy, and unaware of his looks. He assumes that he’s wrong
unless proven otherwise. Tall and thin. Adult.

*Mr. Strabinsky. (Dog) Jack Russell, rescued by Sloppincabbage and Luke. Wears
glasses because he has an eye condition called Strabismus.  Very smart, but prone to
mischief. 3 years old. Funny, affectionate, smart, a little sneezy. Never has to cut his hair,
never thinks of what to wear. A red bandanna around his neck.

*Mary.  Loyal friend to Luke and Sloppincabbage.  Very smart, fun loving, good at solving
problems. Moderately sophisticated for a twelve-year-old.  Always dressed as if going to a party.

*Johnny Curbstone. Good at listening, but not really plugged in.  The neighborhood
Know-it-all, who really knows little, but tries to be helpful, Age 18. Hat, sport coat partially
hides patches on his pants.  Average looks.
                                           
*Nate Alwayslate. Hyper, fast, never finishes a sentence, nor allows anyone else to do so. 
He comes to a conclusion before the question is answered, so he rarely makes any sense.
Very skinny and tall. Football jersey, sneakers, blue jeans. 
                           
*Bessy Fewclothes. Loves to shop and is very interested in what people wear.  Wears
lots of clothes, not always a good match!

*Terwilliger.  A businessman who can sometimes be mean and sometimes be helpful
(not always on purpose). A troublemaker, owns much of the town. Many owe him money. 
Whatever it is, he’s against it.  Adult.  Suit, very shiny shoes.
                                                   
*Berkeley Bannanapeel. Highly skilled acrobat, but very clumsy just walking down street.   
Bicycle pants, shirt, helmet.
                                                                
*Uncle Willy (Wilym). The grand sage. Sloppincabbage’s uncle, who taught him
everything he doesn’t know. Looks a lot like Sloppincabbage. Dressed in rags.
                           
*Harold. (pet gerbil) Gets passed around from person to person, often when the
person does not know that Harold has been placed in his/her pocket. No costume. 
He’s a gerbil!
                           
Bobby Booboo. Prone to mistakes that end up with a hurt finger, a skinned knee,
torn clothing  Age 9. Jeans, torn at the knee, short sleeve shirt.
                               
Eddie Elephant. Never forgets.  He’s a little heavy, Often in trouble with his parents. 
Age 11. Repeated Phrase: “Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.”  Dockers, thick belt, sweat shirt not obese.  

Benny Bedpost. Very lazy.  Would rather sleep it out than exert any effort. 
He is very good at watching things happen.    An outfit that almost looks like pajamas.
                                               
Terry Paper.  Interior decorator.    Slightly nearsighted and color blind.
Red shirt, Purple tie, pink pants, green shoes.  
       
Waggle and is brother Wiggle. Twins, both nervous and very wary of Sloppincabbage and Luke. 
Fidgety.  Can’t commit to any idea. Mirror image patterned shirts, black pants.
               
Powdermaker. Weight lifter who loves to show off by pounding things into pulp,
ready to fight at a moments notice.  Never afraid. Muscle shirt, shorts, sneakers
                                               
Hardy Harhar. Loves to tell corney jokes, but no one ever “gets” them.
Big hat, colorful oversized shirt, pants.
                           
Calvin Cookie-counter. Math teacher.  Wrapped up in the math, to the exclusion of reality.
White shirt, pocket protector with pens.
                                           
Hilda Heystack. A successful farmer, always has exactly what anyone needs,
regardless of the outlandishness of the request.  Sucking on straw, overalls.
                           
Claude Cucumber. Works at the corner salad bar, and extols the virtues of
vegetables whenever possible. White apron.                           
                   
Sloppy Joe.  Barbecue cook with sauce on his apron.  Saucy white apron.
                           
Bernard Barnyard. Dog walker by profession.  Always gets carried away by his work.   
Jeans, jeans jacket, jeans shirt.
                                           
Betty Spaghetti. Loves to cook spaghetti and thinks that spaghetti can cure all illnesses.
Dress with spaghetti strings.
                           
Flossie Springflower.  Florist, has a poor memory for details. Flowery dress.

Hortense Thermos.  Always too hot or too cold. Always the wrong outfit for the weather.
                   
Larry Longpants. Tailor who feels that pants must always be extra long, ”just in case...”
Tall, long pants, which dangle below his shoes.
                                                   
Farmer Fairweather. New to farming. “I’ll be planting something soon...” Overalls.
                                           
Boris Boralis. Astronomer who knows all the answers. Often offers interesting tidbits of
information. White shirt, black pants.
                                               
Bucky Broccoli. Loves broccoli and brussels sprouts.  The combination can cure anything,
by eating or rubbing!    Green shirt with broccoli sticking out of pocket.  
                             
Hialea Hilverhooth. A rich man who occasionally helps when all else fails. 
He’s hard to convince, but loyal once he’s hooked. Suit, tie, vest.
